Anamorphosis is a distorted projection or perspective requiring the viewer to use a specific vantage point to reconstitute the image. This is an artistic technique that dates back to the early Renaissance.
I couldn't find out who designed this, but it's a very well done illustration. It really looks as if it has true depth. It seems to be done with pencil and ink. What really attracted me to this was the detail and time it must have taken to plan out something like this. It has so much shape and dimension, it's practically alive.
