Appliqued Friendship Quilt Harford County, Maryland, 1848 Cottons. This well documented quilt is finely stitched and quilted using the highest quality red printed fabrics available in the mid 19th century. The central block is inscribed in ink "Sophia Pyle's quilt pieced by her mother in 1848." The maker, Milcah C. (Churchman) Pyle, Mrs. Joseph Pyle, was Sophia's mother and the wife of Joseph Pyle of Harford County, Maryland. Excellent condition. 102 inches square.
