Making Connections - maybe something like this could lead to more direct connections. I swear my students can connect two very different things just to talk about what they did over the weekend during reading. :) :) Gotta love 'em!

i know you're thinking, 'ashley, not for kindergarten' and...maybe, but i observed a class of first graders at the beginning of the year whose amazing teacher had already taught them this well enough that they could identify elements in grade level stories themselves

Making Connections Anchor Chart...can't find this on the blog (sigh), but it would be pretty easy to make!
