Science for Secondary Grades: Biology, Chemistry, Physics and more!

A great science journal activity that will provide some work for the students' hands and also their minds! Colorful and fun, students and use this to study the tectonic plate boundaries.

This is an awesome edible science lab that demonstrates plate boundaries by using an Oreo as one of the Earth's plates. I would like to use this as an introductory lesson when teaching plate boundaries and plate tectonics.

Oreo Plate Tectonics - Using Oreos to teach science - I probably would have been better at science and math if Oreos had been involved.

Fun way to teach plate tectonics with food! Kids will love it... especially middle school! This could be part of a group project where kids could team up and bake/create something edible that explains how the plates work, then the entire class could eat and enjoy their masterpiece!

I would provide this to the students before beginning the lesson and then have them fill it out as we go through. That way they can write down as they are learning it. I would possibly have them write their questions as we go through too and at the end collect all of them to read their questions.

Very neat in class project to have students do independently! It requires students to understand and illustrate the different components of Earth's spheres and composition.
