When the light's on, students may not talk to you. What a FABULOUS idea! Perfect for guided reading or math groups. I would have one of my jobs be teacher's assistant and the students could go to them instead of me to ask a question.

I'm back with another classroom management tip that is GOLD! So Joanne Miller at Head Over Heels for Teaching uses this technique in her cl.
Touch lights to show when a group is done/ready to move on/ready to present/whatever. If only those didn't all need batteries. Maybe something with a battery already in it. LED candles in a little lantern?
This is another great idea for managing my future classroom without disturbing the other students. I will just walk over and hand this to a child instead of yelling across the classroom. They are "Warning Cards".
FREE "Make a Better Choice" Classroom Management Idea~ Print and laminate these miniature stop signs to discreetly hand out to students who need to be redirected. Place it on the child's desk, and he or she will get the idea.
Instead of yelling- hand a stop sign. My class wouldn't need the words (since most can't read)
A Love for Teaching: Warm Fuzzy Jar I love this idea and I'm doing it in my class this year! Pinned by: barnettsschoolhou.
Classroom Management: To discourage tattling, when someone reports something nice about their friend to the teacher they get to put a warm fuzzy in the jar. When the jar is full, the class gets a reward!
"A Love for Teaching // the party could be the popcorn bar party I pinned a while back!" Great way to encourage positive behavior
I would use this in my classroom, as it is good to reward your students. Giving them something to work towards that is fun will encourage them to do the right thing. I want to have a controlled classroom! The best classroom in the school!

Instead of having to carry around your attendance sheet to recess or fire drills, etc. stick the kids names on the back of your teacher name tag. Great for field trips too! :) if only I had a name tag.
Put student's names on the back of YOUR nametag so that you won't have to worry about finding the list during something like a firedrill. TEACHER FRIENDS! Wow!
Primary Possibilities: Positive Behavior Rewards SECRET STUDENT--so much fun, Love this idea! If the secret student has done well then all get a positive reward. All have to work hard just incase it's them.
If I could figure out a way to create something similar for Hall Rules, except in Spanish, then this would be applicable to my class. A good way to manage student behavior in the hallway when they are a part of your class at the moment.
