Reporting vs Tattling, she has a good idea about the tattle jar, but I just wonder if some serious situations got skipped over on the days she threw out the papers instead of reading them. Kids aren't always just trying to get someone in trouble, though it can be more often than not.

informing vs tattling...I'm thinking I'll make this into an anchor chart for my classroom next year!!
Parents and Teachers everywhere, relay this to children!! :Both of my kids have come home from school before with horror stories and they didn't want to "get in trouble for tattling." Informing vs Tattling: I've always struggled with the distinction (I think people are quick to call "tattle tale!") so I love this. Finally makes sense.

Tattle poster - Do I need to tell the teacher? Yes/No list. Love this! I need this at my HOUSE for my kids!
I would use this to teach students when it's important to tell the teacher. I would hang the sign in my classroom so students remember. It would cut down on the amount of tattling.
My Grandson has been bullied for years & the teachers don't want to hear about it. He's had concussions from being tripped, been hit, had his lunch taken away by a cafeteria worker because he told her the milk was sour. He's only 8 and has learned that the teachers don't want to hear about it. Calling the school hasn't helped, telling the other kids parents doesn't work -they're just as bad. It's a shame...

Classroom Management. A little editing and great time out moment at home with a thinking journal.
Sydney Schafer 10/5/15 - I think this is a great way for students to get the opportunity to cool-down. A lot of the time when negative classroom behavior takes place, it is dealt with, but the students never really get the time to think about what happened or get the chance to calm down. I love the step that allows them to draw a picture about what they will do better next time. Not only are they calming down, but they are thinking of a way to better themselves for next time.

By having the students engaged in a discussion on what makes a great student, friend, and teacher through the creation of anchor charts that could be displayed around the room as a reminder, my students would better understand and maintain the high expectations set in the classroom. This activity at the beginning of the year would set expectations from day one and would be an effective strategy to set and maintain those strategies for the rest of the school year.
