Upcycled vinyl records! You can use the microfiche catalogue too to cut out butterfly and dragonfly etc! Out date floppy dish will be great too! For CD or DVD, you can saw the half shape and glue them together! Use colour paper, if you just need a quick deco in the Library!
Gosh now I know what to do with some of my records hubby and I have duplicates of. Such a great idea. I remember doing chip bowls out of records as a kid years ago.
Finally a practical use for all of those horrible vinyls we see at the antique stores (you know, the discs that no one really wanted to listen to in the 70s and 80s, let alone NOW). These would look really cool when the basement is redone.
I did this as a kid at school as a gift for my Mom. We melted records, then we mod-podged squares of Christmas wrapping paper to them to make them little Chirstmas candy bowls. Now, I think it would be a terrible waste of an antique. I would never melt my vinyl!
