Front Porch Jazz up a home’s exterior by painting the front door a rich sea blue. Frame it with fresh, white trim and add red porch furniture for a look that’s all-American. Make porch ceilings appear higher with a hint of ocean blue. Remember, a little color goes a long way. The effect is not meant to be dramatic, so choose a delicate tint.

I got this from There's a Dragon in My Art Room. I need to research this comment that accompanied the cartoon. "We've been looking at the Finland model of education, which is number one in the world and only tests their students ONCE their entire school career. Something to think about."

6th grade art: Charcoal and Pastel Owls (focus: drawing BIG, visual texture, and value)

A great way to teach value. A white highlight that gradually tints into a color as it expands from the subject. I collected a no. of student samples using value change with one color. I plan to do a value lesson with each grade level (1-5) using the subject matter as a point of motivation and differentiation.

Did this with 4th graders for years and they turned out great every time- One of my favorite art activities EVER! Activities: Make Free-Fall Foreshortening Art!

Cool Middle School Art Projects. Something similar might make a great tints and shades lesson. Hmmm.

Bright and stunning flower painting depicts ember-glow coral red poppies in a garden. The background in the original painting is torn piano sheet music that has been tinted with watercolor and used as a collage element over acrylic and oil on canvas. When you get close up, you can see the music which makes this mixed media art truly a conversation piece.

Each person on this earth is three dimensional-- not defined by a certain characteristic, but rather comprised of a variety of traits. I could create a flower in which each petal represents a side of myself… some more outwardly apparent than others, but all equally important.
