    The Missouri Governor's Mansion in Jefferson City was completed in 1871. The mansion was built in only 8 months, with much of the work performed by prisoners from the nearby penitentiary. The mansion was designed by noted STL architect George Ingham Barnett, and is a beautiful example of Second Empire architecture. The Missouri Governor's Mansion is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
