Okay, now that I've gotten serious about choosing a quilt pattern, I have found there are just soooo many choices! In describing one pattern that I liked, I used the words "triangles with squares." That didn't really make any sense. But while I didn't find the exact quilt that I had spotted, I did discover what pattern I was referring to: It is called a "Value Quilt" - those of you who quilt probably know this! This quilt above is done with such vibrant colors. And the Value Quilt below was done with striking patterns. I LOVE it! And finally, here is another quilt that I was considering. While not for my first quilt, it will go somewhere on the list for the future. It looks like a scrap quilt made of children's building blocks. I love how every grouping is surrounded by those bright colors. I think I have decided on the Value Quilt for my first one. Wish me luck. And don't expect it anytime soon, but I will post pictures as it evolves! I hope you get the chance to be creative today!

beautiful black/white rag quilt:.6 inch blocks (need approx. 168 squares to make quilt 30x54”/7sq x 12 sq) 4.5 inch batting; layer then stitch x through center from ½ in from each raw edge; ½- ¾ (5/8) inch seams then sew the same around the outside of the quilt; cut every ¼ to ½ inch; wash with fabric softner and very small amount of soap on cold and gentle; shake before drying; when drying make sure to empty lent trap several times while drying

So the last quilt that was in my booth at quilt market is based off a quilt pattern in my second book, In the Studio with Angela Walters.. This is the quilt that was in the book, Spin Doctor. I am so not a purple fan, but I love this light purple background. It’s a little different for me, but sometimes the funnest thing about quilting is branching out! For my booth, I remade the quilt with the strike-offs from my fabric line, Textures. I put this quilt together using raw-edge appliqué, the only kind of appliqué that I do!! It was the last quilt that I finished before Quilt Market, how fitting that it was my own quilt. I finished it with 2 whole days to spare, so I had a lot of fun with it. In the dark grey background, I pretty much used every quilting design that I could think of. I mashed them all together….think of it as improvisational quilting! Since it was a small area, and since I had some extra time, I quilted it really small… It was the most “zen” experience I have had quilting. I cranked up the music and just let it flow……I still smile when I look at the quilt. The best part…..it’s my quilt!! I get to keep it! I don’t get to say that often. Here is a view of the back of that section: In the center of the quilt, I quilted my logo…..what can I say?? I was in a groove…. And I realized that my logo is the same, even when reversed…..here is the back view: Within the strips, I quilted different designs…..gotta keep it interesting! I plan on hanging this quilt in my quilting room, I am so glad that I get to keep it! What about you? What was the last quilt you made for yourself?? Happy Quilting
Everyone knows Angela Walters' gorgeous machine quilting, but I just had to feature this photo of her work. You can see more about it on her site: Quilting is My Therapy. She said she turned up the music and really enjoyed doing this quilting. Look how small her designs are. I'd love to be able to do this. Maybe it will be my New Year's resolution to give it a try. I'm just thinking.
