When I saw this Christmas jello, I thought that the recipe is hard to do. Finally after reading this article, I wanted to try this original desert who is easy to do with simple ingredients.

Christmas-flavored sugar - they show it on popcorn but would be good in oatmeal, on toast, or on sugar cookies! Blend with sugar: a bayleaf, 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon, the zest of a lemon, the zest of a clementine, 3 cloves, a few gratings of nutmeg. Let sit, sift, use!

Does the rind doesn't add a bitter taste?

  • Bobi Rush

No, actually it just adds the lemon. When I make a kale drink I use the whole lemon as well as other fruits and it is wonderful ~

  • Erin NH

Ok. Might give it a try then. :)

Trust me if you are a lemon lover like me you will enjoy this and get far more nutrients

If you think it would be bitter, use Meyer lemons...they are better...rind and all

How to make caramel from sweetened condensed milk. This is pretty interesting. And the photo is yummy looking. But two hours in a pot of boiling water...that is a long time. I can make caramel in about five minutes on the stove top. is interesting.

  • HellsBells

I've made this hundreds of times and never had the can explode. Others may make caramel in five minutes on the stove top with those awful hard caramels and milk but nothing comes close to the taste you get from the sweetened condensed milk.

warning: if you leave it too long in the boiling water it will explode. Crock pot is much safer

it took me days to get it all off the kitchen ceiling

I never buy the prepackaged caramels on the grocery shelves. I either make my caramel from organic sugar on the stove top with the addition of butter and cream. It is delicious. I also make a caramel using condensed milk which I love by the way. But I pour it from the can and add a few more ingredients and cook to about soft ball stage. That also is delicious.

Yeah, Sonya....that's how my mother used to make it! Ole School goodness :-)
