Imbolc (pronounced Imm-olk) is an ancient Celtic celebration midway between the winter solstice and the spring equinox. It is a celebration of light, representing the lengthening of the day and the hope of spring. Imbolc is translated as ‘ewe’s milk’, a time of year when the sheep are pregnant with lambs to be born in the spring.

Snowdrops in the snow. Flowers that erupt in the snow as early as late January. Planted in full sun to part shade, they thrive with little maintenance once established.

Galanthus (snowdrop; Greek gála "milk", ánthos "flower") is a small genus of about 20 species of bulbous herbaceous plants in the family Amaryllidaceae, subfamily Amaryllidoideae. Most flower in winter, before the vernal equinox (20 or 21 March in the Northern Hemisphere), but certain species flower in early spring and late autumn.

The snowdrops have almost finished blooming in the garden, but the last few are still beautiful.

Snowflakes, these remind me of little Tiffany Lamps. So pretty!
