13 Little Blue Envelopes by Maureen Johnson. Seventeen-year-old Ginny feels her life is boring and safe. When she receives 13 mysterious envelopes from her favorite aunt, she leaves New Jersey for a European scavenger hunt that transforms her. I really enjoyed this book both for the wanderlust adventure and the realistic portrayal of Ginny as a teen dealing with life's idiosyncrasies. As a bonus, the book is realistic on its view of travel in that it is worth it although not easy.

I read this book in middle school and the ending made me a little upset. 5 years later, the sequel finally comes out! : )
