BATH SALTS: Turn a plain old soak into a real retreat with bath salts you make yourself. Start with about 4 cups of sea salt or kosher salt. Mix in several drops of an aromatic bath oil (available at bath and beauty stores) and, if you wish, dried fragrant plants, such as lavender or eucalyptus. Pour into a jar for yourself or to give as a gift. Use a few spoonfuls of salts per bath.
DIY Bath Salts :: I save Candle Jars & may do some in those :: In a large bowl, mix to combine: 6 parts coarse sea salt; 3 parts epsom salts, to soothe tired muscles & reduce inflammation; &1 part baking soda, to soften waters & alleviate skin irritation. Add a few drops of essential oils & combine. Add a few drops of food coloring until you achieve the desired shade. If you intend to present the bath salts as gifts, be sure to store them in a stoppered & labeled container to keep out moisture.
~ Vanilla Sea Salt ~ 1 cup sea salt 4 vanilla beans, split lengthwise and scraped, seeds reserved DIRECTIONS: 1. In a large bowl, combine sea salt and vanilla seeds. Use the tips of your fingers to rub the vanilla seeds into the sea salt until they are thoroughly combined. 2. Spoon salt into individual jars, cover tightly, label, and store in a cool, dry place
