Clouds of Perseus ~ contains over solar masses of gas and dust, but the eye is drawn to red NGC Known as the California Nebula, its characteristic glow of atomic hydrogen gas is fueled by ultraviolet light from luminous blue star Xi Persei.
Cascading loops spiral above an active region on the sun in an extreme-ultraviolet image sent back to Earth by NASA's Solar Dynamics Laboratory on Jan. These loop structures are made of superheated plasma, just one of which is the size of several Earths.
How much water on earth? In this illustration, the blue ball represents the volume of all the water on earth, relative to the size of the earth. The tiny speck to the right of the blue ball represents Earth’s fresh water.
The Eridanus Void. This area shows almost no signs of cosmic matter, meaning no stars, planets, solar systems or clouds of cosmic dust. Researchers couldn't even find dark matter, which is invisible but measurable by its gravitational pull or black holes.
