The most common consequences of seeing pain like war photographers do is PTSD, alcoholism and depression. This is why we feel the war photography theme is suitable for our protagonist who is not in a mental state.

war- a kid with empty bullet shells... ironic. what is left behind... the bullet shells and the young kids who survive these wars and are left to rebuild their lives in suffering

And it says everyday life of "AN" African child, not "ALL" African children. There was no generalization in the grammatical structure.

Unfortunately, it could be titled, "Every day life of any child in any US Metropolatin City" That may be abit of an exagerration but .......

@Sue, that's a gigantic exagerration. While some there is some violence in some US metropolitan cities, it's no where near the magnitude of the violence to which this picture is alluding. There may be some bad conditions in the US, but in Africa children are kidnapped and used as child soldiers. It's not the same at all.

Poverty, defined differently for many people and it affects people differently, I just hope though that like the reflected innocence of the child people never forget about just being happy and appreciate what they do have no matter what your financial stability may be

Mother and child - Padaung tribe of Myanmar’s ethnic minori - These are the 1st people I remember ever reading about in National Geographic at my grandmother's house back in the 70's. Back then, it was thought that if the woman misbehaved, her husband would remove the 'collar', & her head would fall forward suddenly, breaking her neck!

Her name is Rosie, I could not find out where she served. Her eyes are dead, not a glimmer of the child seems to exist. What hells has this child already participated in, or seen. No education, just taught to kill.

Ik heb de mooiste baan ter wereld: kinderen weer kind laten zijn. Er is niets mooier dan een lachend kind.

Hmong child, Bonding to have your child touching you, not shoved in a stroller. The warmth, it's not forever simply 5 or 6 months.
