    The library’s marble mantel hosts a circa-1840 French clock; the Gothic Revival brass-bound bucket was designed to hold turf, a traditional Irish fireplace fuel. At far left is an 18th-century chinoiserie leather screen that is English or Dutch in origin.

    The Long Library showing the silver chandelier which is a copy of the one at Knole and the dining table, at Sissinghurst, home of Vita Sackville-West and her husband Sir Harold Nicolson, near Cranbrook, Kent. This room is the largest in the existing house and was created out of the old stables, and contains the 4,000 books accumulated from 40 years of reviewing. Perfection!
