The three women pictured in this incredible photograph from 1885 -- Anandibai Joshi of India, Keiko Okami of Japan, and Sabat Islambouli of Syria -- each became the first licensed female doctors in their respective countries. The three were students at the Women’s Medical College of Pennsylvania; one of the only places in the world at the time where women could study medicine. - http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/04/08/19th-century-women-medical-school_n_5093603.html

Contrary to Hollywood, black slaves were America’s 1st cowboys. The word cowboy, originally had nothing to do w-roping cattle & hell-raising in the high plains. The word 'cowboy' grew out of social customs that did not allow black males to be addressed as 'mister' or 'men'. Russia. Maria Romanov, 1910 - ☮k☮ what an amazing image for its time!

Grand Duchess Maria Nikolaevna Romanova of Russia Child of Tsar Nicholas II (Nikolay Alexandrovich Romanov) Russia & Alix (Victoria Alix Helena Louise Beatrice) (Alexandra Feodorovna) .

I know these are people, but I see beauty in many things. These are the daughters of Nicholas Alexandra - Olga, Tatiana, Maria, Anastasia; all came to a tragic end years after this lovely photo was taken. It would be romantic to think they escaped. They didn't...the DNA analysis has proven that. But every time I see family photos like this, all I can think is what a beautiful quartet of girls.

The four Romanov girls, daughters of Nicholas II Empress Alexandra - Grand Duchesses Olga, Tatiana, Maria, and Anastasia.
