Calm down jar. I know this isn't very academic related, but it was a fun activity to make with the kids. My kids think it's so neat. We put glitter and sequins in ours. Good for time-outs, quiet time if they're not napping, or simply when they need to calm down and regain self-control. -Christine

a 'calm down jar' - shake the jar and the child has to watch the jar until the glitter settles. great alternative to using 'time out' as calm down time. Great idea till the kid throws the jar cause they are mad. Plastic jar would be a must.
