Explore Start Foraging, Chicken Farmer, and more!

Our chickens love September. That’s when we allow them to start foraging in the vegetable garden. All the left overs from the season are free for the pecking.

As you can see our zucchini plants are now all in chicken wire. We don’t mind sharing our vegetables with the chickens from time to time but pecking out the center of all the full grown fruit is just rude.

The chickens are getting a treat. We made beer today for the first time. The girls are getting the leftover barley from the process.

These eggs have not been dyed for Easter. They were laid by chickens! An Easter Egger is any chicken that possesses the "blue egg" gene. In addition to there being chicken breeds that produce these blue/green eggs, there are other breeds that can produce red eggs, lavender eggs, brown eggs, etc.
