A legendary scene from A Trip to the Moon (Le Voyage dans la lune), a 1902 French B&W silent sci-fi film that based loosely on Jules Verne's From the Earth to the Moon and H.G. Wells' The First Men in the Moon. The film was written and directed by Georges Méliès. Its wide popularity inspires Smashing Pumpkin's music video for their song, Tonight Tonight and a 2011 Martin Scorsese's new film, Hugo.
