This last weekend, I held an ethnographic food tour of Los Angeles for Sonic Trace KCRW. Kay Plunkett-Hogge, a popular UK food writer and Logan Clark, a graduate student studying Ethnomusicology at UCLA were some of the participants. Some featured dishes were Blue Corn Quesadillas Poblanas and organic Oaxacan espresso in East L.A. Read more about it and where else I went.
A weekly pop-up that rotates homemade Guatemalan, Salvadoran, Oaxacan and Mexican food? Yup It's been going on for the last 11 years too. Sorry Chef Ludovic Lefebvre, Santa Cecilia Church in South L.A. has got you beat! Check out my latest for Sonic Trace, thanks Paola Briseño González for the find.
Seriously. Do some homework on this. We could feed so many more people if we each made an effort to incorporate more plant based foods into our diets, and ate less meat. If you want to fight world hunger, this is a good place to start.
