    No clue if this is true or not; haven't tracked it to a source yet, but it makes a great story if it is! From an uplifting blog, "Hope 4 Humanity" that has nothing but great stories... -- You can read about (and watch) this commercial here (oldschool.tblog.c...), but there's no mention of the bonuses.

    November is "Military Family Appreciation Month"

    How the "United Through Reading" Military Program Works -- Found this through a press release stating: "Olive Garden is honoring Military Family Appreciation Month by offering a 10-percent discount for current military members and their families during November and partnering with the USO to donate 15,000 storybooks to support United Through Reading's Military Program."     Made of recycled tires, the flip-flops sold through Rebuild Globally (each pair named for the person who made them) support "living-wage employment and helps facilitate community development that strengthens families in Port-au-Prince. Haiti."

    "Vertical Measures Donates $ 5 Per Facebook Share to Toys for Tots" -- I was going to put instructions, but as I clicked on it in Facebook, now I guess I'm just reporting on a ridiculously successful campaign, as they hit their cap about 45,000 "shares" ago!!!

    "Occupy Christmas: gifts that give back 2012" -- The concept is "bringing the consumerism down a notch for the holidays, and bringing the tangible giving up for those in need." In addition to this infographic there are links to lists of both "gifts that give back" and "sustainable assistance" organizations.
