"A book-vending machine in Seattle, Washington. I’ve come across a couple images of these on Flickr—one in Japan, another in Germany. I’ve never seen any in my travels, but I wouldn’t mind it. Sure would come in handy in a subway station. My only question is whether or not the quality of vending-machine books is any better than vending-machine food. Seems fun to extend the metaphor, doesn’t it? One is less likely to buy a history of labor unions from a machine than, say, a new Stephenie Meyer."
