Ireland as photographed by the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center. no wonder it is called the Emerald Isle.
On August 7, 2003, the NASA Aqua MODIS instrument acquired this image of Ireland on the first day this summer that most of the island hasn´t been completely obscured by cloud cover. Called the Emerald Isle for a good reason, Ireland is draped in vibrant shades of green amidst the blue Atlantic Ocean and Celtic (south) and Irish (east) Seas.

Ireland is the third-largest island in Europe and the twentieth-largest island on Earth. To its east is the larger island of Great Britain, separated by the Irish Sea. The island's lush vegetation, a product of its mild climate and frequent rainfall, earns it the nickname, 'the Emerald Isle.' // by NASA Goddard Photo and Video

Look at all the green surrounding Blarney Castle in Ireland!- Little Passports #littlepassports #blarneycastle #ireland
Blarney Castle (Irish: Caisleán na Blarnan) is a medieval stronghold in Blarney, near Cork, Ireland, and the River Martin. Though earlier fortifications were built on the same spot, the current keep was built by the MacCarthy of Muskerry dynasty, a cadet branch of the Kings of Desmond, and dates from 1446. The noted Blarney Stone is found among the machicolations of the castle.

Tourists visiting Blarney Castle may hang upside-down over a sheer drop to kiss the stone, which is said to give the gift of eloquence. Ross Castle, near Killarney, Co. Kerry, Ireland - I was there and it is truly this beautiful.
Ross Castle is the ancestral home of the O'Donoghue clan though it is better known for its association with the Brownes of Killarney who owned it until recently. It is located on the edge of Lough Leane, in Killarney National Park, County Kerry, Ireland. Ross Castle was built in the late 15th century by local ruling clan the O'Donoghues Mor, though ownership changed hands during the Second Desmond Rebellion of the 1580s to the Mac Carty Mor.

Patron saint of Ireland. Born in Britain of a Romanized family, he was captured at 16 by Irish raiders and carried into slavery in Ireland. He spent six years as a herdsman before escaping from his master and being reunited with his family in Britain. Called in a dream to bring Christianity to the Irish, he returned to Ireland and journeyed far and wide, baptizing chiefs and kings and converting whole clans. One popular legend says that he explained the notion of the Holy Trinity using the shamrock, now the national flower of Ireland.

St. Patrick was a Romano-British and Christian missionary, who is the most generally recognized patron saint of Ireland or the Apostle of Ireland, although Brigid of Kildare and Colmcille are also formally patron saints. March 17, popularly known as St. Patrick's Day, is believed to be his death date and is the date celebrated as his feast day.

You don't have to be Irish to enjoy wearing green St. Patrick's Day jewelry. Here is a collection of cheap Irish green jewelry.
Saint Patrick ( 387 – 17 March c. 460 or c. 492) was a Romano-British Christian missionary and bishop in Ireland. Known as the "Apostle of Ireland", he is the primary patron saint of the island along with Saints Brigid and Columba.
So... Saint Patrick was kidnapped as a child from England, taken to be a slave in Pagan Ireland. ( by the way, he HATED the Irish for this ) He escapes after 6 years of being a slave for the Pagan Irish and returned home to England. After becoming a cleric, he returned to Pagan Ireland to convert them all to Catholicism. And now he is revered as the patron saint of Ireland.
One of the reasons why Saint Patrick is considered as a saint is because as a missionary, he spent his entire life being righteousness, virtuous and honest. He was a god fearing man who spent his time preaching the word of God to the pagans living in Ireland and converting them to Christianity. He was instrumental in spreading the religion across Ireland among the non believers.
* Saint Patrick ~ ca. 387 - March 17, 493 ~ patron saint of Ireland https://www.facebook.com/IrelandOfAThousandWelcomes?ref=stream
Saint Patrick was a 5th-century Romano-British Christian missionary and bishop in Ireland. Known as the "Apostle of Ireland", he is the primary patron saint of the island along with Saints Brigit and Columba. He was active as a missionary in Ireland during the second half of the fifth century. When he was about 16, he was captured from his home in Great Britain by Irish Pirates, and taken as a slave to Ireland. After becoming a cleric, he returned to northern and western Ireland.
