Calming or time out jars: use often. When it has come down to a time out, the child must shake their (a great craft to make for each child with them, but only one can be used also.) jar (water bottles for the littles), and watch the glitter until it settles at the bottom- that determines how long their tie out is, and also it is used as a form of meditation for the child, so this can also be used as a calming tool for kids before nap or bedtime(:
Alternative to Timeout - GlitterJar. I think I may have to make a few of these. I absolutely love this idea. When the child needs to calm down you shake the jar, hand it to them, they watch the glitter fall and when it's sunk to the bottom you then discuss their behavior.
@ ang: Time-out bottles. Fill a bottle with 3/4 water, one bottle of glitter glue, ultra fine glitter. Then send this bottle with your child to timeout and they can watch it settle to calm them. Once the glitter is settled their time is up! wow this is such a good idea! if they mess with the bottle their time out time is longer. awesome idea! I like this better than a glass jar!
