While at first glance these stunning black and white portraits look like they were created in Illustrator, you'd be surprised to find out they're actually pen drawings. 20-year-old England-based artist Josh Bryan has a set called Triangulations where he's taken some well-known celebrities - like Marilyn Monroe, Albert Einstein, Helen Bonham Carter, and Johnny Knoxville - and created their likeness in abstract, geometric form. Hundreds of tiny triangles make up each face.
Artist Josh Bryans beautiful pen portrait of Marilyn Monroe is still one of my all-time favorite artworks of her. (How Id love a print!) Using just black fineliner pens, which range from 0.1 mm to 1.0 mm, Bryan creates triangles of varying sizes until they resemble a familiar face. As he explains to us, The creative process is quite simple. I make sure the image I use as a reference isnt too well-known, even though the subjects are.
Have drawings done of bridal party and have them sign. Use as wall of fame photos as entering ceremony. Then gift photos to each bridal party member after wedding
A minimalist portrait of Marilyn Monroe. Fine Art Print after an original drawing by Ileana Hunter.
Josh Bryan's (2013) 'Triangulation' series uses geometric shapes created by lines to produce portraits. Shading is created by grouping the lines within individual shapes closer. Conversly light is created by enlarging the shapes and using less lines within them. This emphasizes the planes of the face.
