Wonderful idea for the hackberry stump by the potager! Flowers in an old tree stump. Loved doing this. Added color to the back corner of the back yard. Flowers were blooming like crazy in Spring/Summer and slowed down in the cooler months. Will see what happens come Spring or if I need to replant.

Repurpose broken stemware. Pop in a citronella candle and then put glass down in plant. Pretty at night and keeps bugs away!

Each time you crack an egg open, instead of tossing the shell into the trash, drop it into an open container that you keep in the fridge. When the container is full, crush the shells into small bits and sprinkle them around the base of your plants. The sharp eggshells will deter slugs, snails, and other bugs from nibbling on your garden and add a touch of calcium to the soil.
