Freedom By Jonathan Franzen You don’t hear me say this word often, but this book is a masterpiece ... It’s an epic family saga—it’s got everything—sex and love, even rock n’ roll, and everything you want in a book. —Oprah Featured in Oprah's Book Club 2010

A book well worth reading for the "mature" crowd. This poignant story follows the life of a couple who meet in college and lose their relationship as empty-nesters. The story is rich and deeply emotional.

Jack's naive narration brings a light-heartedness to an otherwise appalling story. One of the best books I've read in a long time!

It takes a little time to get into but was worth it. It is specially good because it reminded me of people I know.

The Paris Wife: A Novel Wonderful novel about Hemingway's first wife, whom he was married to while writing some of his finest material. Her name is Hadley and I got the idea to name my in uteri baby from her. She was a patient and interesting person aside from her marriage to Hemingway.

I think that many teacher stop at the first part of this quote. Their only job is to teach these "great books" because people say they are great. But reading in itself is what is valuable. You are not smarter just because you read the Great Gatsby. Reading ingeneral helps kids do better in school. If kids love to read they will excel in school. Forcing these great books is not going to get us there.
