Love this idea for teaching time!! Students make a clock with a hula hoop! The numbers are attached to the hoop and students use their arms as the hands. :) great for kinesthetic learners!

Peer to peer learning has proven itself to be an extremely effective method at increasing student retention of material. Exploring time and how to tell time is an excellent context where small group learning would be beneficial. This activity requires a hula hoop that has numbers attached to it that mirror the classroom clock. Students can take turns standing in the middle and using their arms to kinesthetically perform time!

make a clock on your white board using a hula hoop.. perfect!

Why haven't I thought of this when teaching time?? Even if it is an English class---I still teach students how to tell time the "old" way!

To make this game, you'll need to print out two game boards and then write the 12 different times two times each on the foam shapes or your own cards (so you'll have 2 sets of 12 times for a total of 24 digital times) AND you need to write "Time is Up!" on 5 shapes/cards. Students work in pairs to play and one partner pulls out a digital time and places it on the matching clock on their board.
