So enjoy when things I have in abundance around the house make camping easier :D

Hmm, homemade fire starters with toilet rolls and dryer lint. I'm the daughter of a Depression-era mom, so the thriftiness of this appeals to me a little bit. All Posts | FB TroublemakersFB Troublemakers

I keep a gallon-sized ziplock bag in the laundry room. When the bag is full, we have enough for our next camping trip, but we don't stuff the TP rolls until just before our trip.

  • Alisha And Leighann

Great idea about the ziplock bag Brenda.

This is actually a fire starter. Ever seen a house fire that was started by a blocked lint trap? I have...horrible. I've got a bucket full of this lint in my laundry room...TG I saw this before I threw it out. We heat with a woodstove and this is a great idea! Thanks for sharing.

Best fire starter ever from recycled materials! - Scouts now recommended to use saw dust from natural wood and mix it with wax and put in into a cardboard egg container. Break off a section and you have more natural fire starter without all of those toxins from laundry lint.

  • Meghan Causey

If you make your own laundry detergent, the lint is free of the nasty toxins! :)

  • Vicki Guiltner

Would be fine in a woodburning stove..

  • Angela Klingsporn

We learned the egg carton way in campfire, except we used dried pineneedles and moss that we collected while camping.

DIY Fire Starters for Camping - You begin with an empty egg carton, add old dryer lint, and cover in wax. You just let the wax dry, break them into 12 individual cups, and light the cardboard corner to start your fire.

saw works too. we use them all the time when we camp. great idea!

can also put link in old toilet rolls fold ends then light. stuff tightly with lint.

My husband loves these little things. I add sawdust (from another DIY project) to mine- they work great!

  • Kimberly Pacetti

We use to use newspaper to make these. They work great!

Noooo! This is so bad for you and for the environment. You're burning toxic chemicals which means you, your kids, animals, nearby plants and trees are all breathing in major toxins! There are much healthier and safer ways to light a lovely roaring fire, friends :)

  • Susan Crockett

Add some spices to your rolls.

  • Toni Dill

Michelle, paper prodict isn't toxic...if they were burning charcoal it would be though. Papers made from trees, hows that toxic? You have your ideas mixed up lady...
