Sunset at the North Pole -- This is one of the rarest pictures that you will ever see, when the moon was closest to the earth. The date the picture was taken Thursday, the 13th. of March 2011. A scene you will probably never get to see in person, so take a moment and enjoy God at work at the North Pole. You also see the sun below the moon, an amazing photo and not one easily duplicated.

April 24, 2013, was the 23rd anniversary of the launch of the Hubble Space Telescope into orbit. To commemorate this event, the folks at the Space Telescope Science Institute released this image of the Horsehead Nebula, located just next to Orion’s belt, this cloud of dust and gas is a region where stars are forming. In infrared light, as in this image, the dust becomes visible, delicate billows of clouds surrounding baby stars just getting their start in the Universe.

♥ A graphic showing all 8 planets in our solar system, Mercury through to Neptune, to scale where one pixel = 279.6 km. Scales were worked out with this very useful solar system scale calculator. Find out more about the planets on the Planet Facts page.

♥ The “Black Widow” pulsar is moving through the galaxy at a speed of almost a million kilometers per hour. A bow shock wave due to this motion is visible to optical telescopes, shown in this image as the greenish crescent shape. The pressure behind the bow shock creates a second shock wave that sweeps the cloud of high-energy particles back from the pulsar to form the cocoon.

Pinner said : Rock my world.... yeah, but what worries me is what one NASA scientist said in Discovery Channel interview: he's worried that there are no signals from any higher form of life. Because of Deep Space and Deep Time, and Earth is so new and humans are even much much newer, there's been plenty of time for signals to be sent out and for our area to be receiving them. Where is everybody? Have they died off? Pulled in signals because space is dangerous? or, maybe we are alone.......
