Lady Liberty, seen her a few times, and she's just as impressive every time! Was moved when I had the chance to go to Ellis Island and find my Great Grandfathers name as he immigrated from Magyar (now known as Hungary) and knowing that he saw her under the same sun, but under a very different light as he arrived in America.
Statue of Liberty and ferry, Liberty Island, NY, USA. Designed by Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi and dedicated on October 28, 1886, the statue represents Libertas, the Roman goddess of freedom. She bears a torch, representing enlightenment, and a tabula ansata (a tablet evoking the law) upon which is inscribed the date of the American Declaration of Independence, July 4, 1776. A broken chain lies at her feet.
