Native Canadian actor.  Awarded honorary doctor of law degree in June 2008, from Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo, Ontario Canada, close to the Oneida reserve where he is from.

Wes Studi Wes Studi is a full-blooded Cherokee who spoke only Cherokee until he went to school. After serving in Vietnam, he returned to Oklahoma where he worked as a reporter for The Cherokee Advocate. He became involved with the American Indian Movement and was at Wounded Knee in 1973. He was also an author, poet and an Academy Award nominated actor. In 1960 at the age of 60 he landed his first acting job. At 71, he won several awards for his role in "Little Big Man" and them acted in many other films like "The Outlaw Josey Wales".
