Bloom: 28,000 Potted Flowers Installed at the Massachusetts Mental Health Center, In 2003 a building housing the Massachusetts Mental Health Center (MMHC) was slated for demolition. Artist Anna Schuleit was commissioned & after an initial tour she was struck not with what she saw but with what she didn’t see: the presence of life and color. Schuleit executed a massive public art installation called Bloom. This Hall is the chrysanthemum.

BLOOM: In 2003, the Massachusetts Mental Health center was set to close, and the buildings were slated for demolition.  Artist Anna Schuleit created an installation to commemorate the site’s 9-decade history as a psychiatric hospital.  This is the extraordinary result.

Thread installation. I love bright colors, so this wows me because of the use of color and the uniqueness of the sculpture.
