The Loving family. Just 45 years ago, 16 states deemed marriages between two people of different races illegal. But in 1967, the U.S. Supreme Court considered the case of Richard Perry Loving, who was white, and his wife, Mildred Loving, of African American and Native American descent. The case changed history.
African Americans were not slaves. They were enslaved. There is a difference. Suffering was inflicted upon them for others selfish gains. In the end, such shortsighted actions brought suffering to Caucasians as well as to African Americans. To be born a human being is a rare event in itself, and it is wise to use this opportunity as effectively and skillfully as possible... so that the happiness or glory of one person or group is not sought at the expense of others.
