The image shows a number of strange features astronomers think are related to an ongoing collision of galaxy clusters in a region called Abell 2256, about 800 million light-years from Earth and some 4 million light-years across. The image covers an area in the sky almost as large as the Full Moon. This is a "true colour" radio image made with the VLA. Image credit: Owen et al., NRAO/AUI/NSF
Abell 2256 in a "true color" radio image made with the VLA. - Researchers using the Karl G. Jansky Very Large Array (VLA) have produced the most detailed image yet of a fascinating region where clusters of hundreds of galaxies are colliding, creating a rich variety of mysterious phenomena visible only to radio telescopes. - Credit: Owen et al., NRAO/AUI/NSF

Giant Blue Planet Discovered - Astronomers using the NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope have, for the first time, determined the true color of a planet orbiting another star. If seen up close this planet, known as HD 189733b, would be a deep azure blue, reminiscent of Earth’s color as seen from space.
Artist’s impression of the deep blue planet HD 189733b | ESA/Hubble: This illustration shows HD 189733b, a huge gas giant that orbits very close to its host star HD 189733. Astronomers have been able to deduce that HD 189733b is a deep, azure blue — reminiscent of Earth's color as seen from space. However, the planet's atmosphere is scorching with a temperature of over 1000 degrees Celsius, and it rains glass, sideways, in howling 7000 km/hr winds. #Illustraton #Astronomy #HD189733b
Color astronomers ecstatic, as they have, for the first time, deciphered the hue of a distant world. The exoplanet, dubbed HD 189733b, is a deep cobalt blue and lies some 63 light-years from Earth (our own blue marble).
Call it the deep blue dot. For the first time, scientists have seen the visible color of a distant world. The #exoplanet — called HD 189733b — is 63 light-years from Earth and a "deep cobalt blue," with raging storms of glass rain and super-fast winds.
