jodi picoult's books always center around a controversial issue. the characters are so well developed that you feel you know them. the stories will tug your heart strings. the endings will twist your mind. this is my favorite book of hers. it explores the world of Asperger's Syndrome. please read!!
Awesome book and if you know or are close to or need to be to anyone on the Autism Spectrum, this is a must read. However any Jodi Picoult book is well worth reading as this woman is cutting edge, does amazing research and always a fantastic read!
House Rules. Such a good book! I highly, highly suggest it. It gives a great perspective from a boy with Aspergers and his family. Love it!
House Rules by Jodi Picoult: HOUSE RULES is about Jacob Hunt, a teenage boy with Asperger’s Syndrome. He’s hopeless at reading social cues or expressing himself well to others, and like many kids with AS, Jacob has a special focus on one subject – in his case, forensic analysis.
House Rules by Jodi Picoult. One of my all time favorite books. About a boy who struggles with Asperger's. I fell in love with this little boy! After I finished the last page of the book, I cried partially due to the fact that I knew as soon as I closed the book, I would miss that little boy.
House Rules - Jodi Picoult An amazing story for me to read because my Brother has Aspergers Syndrome.
House Rules - Awesome book, and a look into how Asperger's syndrome affects a family
House Rules. Awesome book!! Also my favorite author. :)
I love ALL Jodi Picoult books ---HOUSE RULES is about Jacob Hunt, a teenage boy with Asperger’s Syndrome. He’s hopeless at reading social cues or expressing himself well to others, and like many kids with AS, Jacob has a special focus on one subject – in his case, forensic analysis. He’s always showing up at crime scenes, thanks to the police scanner he keeps in his room, and telling the cops what they need to do…and he’s usually right. But then one day his tutor is found dead, and the police come to question him. All of the hallmark behaviors of Asperger’s – not looking someone in the eye, stimulatory tics and twitches, inappropriate affect – can look a heck of a lot like guilt to law enforcement personnel -- and suddenly, Jacob finds himself accused of murder. HOUSE RULES looks at what it means to be different in our society, how autism affects a family, and how our legal system works well for people who communicate a certain way – but lousy for those who don’t.

Plain Truth by Jodi Picoult *A contemporary Amish tale. The premise of the book is a dead infant to a Amish teenager who SWEARS up & down she did not kill her baby. Her attorney is from the city & is running from demons of her own but, begrundgingly lands herself in this strange society with their constant rules defending the young teenager. Very good book that they also made a Lifetime movie of."
Amish! This is my favorite of Jodi Picoult's books, and one of my favorite books in general. Well researched in portraying the Amish characters, and a fantastic "didn't see that coming" ending. Highly recommend this one!
I think this was the first Jodi Picoult book I ever read. She has become one of my favorite authors.
My first and favorite Jodi Picoult book! Whenever I have 'book discussions' with people and tell them this. She is the best writer today. When I picked up her first book, "Plain Truth" I thought she was an amish writer because her story placed me in that situation. I have read every book since then and each one still gives me that feeling and makes me questions the information that I use to make decisions about life.

A horrifying tale told from the point of view of a little boy. Amazing example of a unique point of view.
"Room" by Emma Donoghue- an incredible story of survival and personal reality from the point of view of a 5 year old. A true page turner.
written in the voice of a 5 yr old boy (& an unknowing prisoner) this story is fairly unsettling. not my favorite, but a quick read, and worth it, esp. for a book club discussion.
Great book. About a little boy named Jack and his Ma. They have been living in captivity since before Jack was born.

The Cider House Rules by John Irving (24h11m) #Audible #FirstLine: "In the hospital of the orphanage--the boys' division at St. Cloud's, Maine--two nurses were in charge of naming the new babies and checking that their little penises were healing from the obligatory circumcision."
Cider house rules / John Irving / Set in rural Maine in the first half of this century, it tells the story of Dr. Wilbur Larch--saint and obstetrician, founder and director of the orphanage in the town of St. Cloud's, ether addict and abortionist. It is also the story of Dr. Larch's favorite orphan, Homer Wells, who is never adopted.
Finished my first stop on the John Irving reunion tour (via the wonderful audiobook narrator). It was as I remembered: slightly contrived, slightly over the top, very heavy handed on abortion politics--but classic, all-absorbing storytelling. Homer Wells may be a bit of a cypher, but I'm glad I went down this road one more time with the unforgettable Wilbur Larch and all the orphans at St. Clouds.
The Cider House Rules - John Irving was probably my favorite author in my teen years

Travis Parker has everything a man could want: a good job, loyal friends, even a waterfront home in small-town North Carolina. In full pursuit of the good life—boating, swimming, and regular barbecues with his good-natured buddies—he holds the vague conviction that a serious relationship with a woman would only cramp his style. The Shack: Wm. Paul Young: 9781609414115: Amazon.com: Books - book club Nov 2012
Probably one of the most life-altering books I have ever read! Mackenzie Allen Philips’ youngest daughter, Missy, has been abducted during a family vacation, and evidence that she may have been brutally murdered is found in an abandoned shack deep in the Oregon wilderness. Four years later in the midst of his Great Sadness, Mack receives a suspicious note, apparently from God, inviting him back to that shack for a weekend. Against his better judgment he arrives at the shack on a wintry afternoon and walks back into his darkest nightmare. What he finds there will change Mack's world forever.
