When the new girl, Maya, comes to elementary school, Chloe and her friends exclude her, despite her attempts to play with them in this sensitive picture book that addresses difficult, and realistic, feelings. Each Kindness by Jacqueline Woodson. Children's book. This is a Powerful story and I love the profound ending. Kindness is like the ripples on water, kindness ripples out and has a positive chain reaction. The story is bittersweet in a way with a hard lesson learned. “Like every girl somewhere – holding a small gift out to someone and that someone turning away from it.” When you are cruel, you never know how much you hurt that person and you may never get the opportunity to make it right.
Each Kindness || Coretta Scott King Author Honor Winner|| Jacqueline Woodson || Illustrated by E.B. Lewis || When Ms. Albert teaches a lesson on kindness, Chloe realizes that she and her friends have been wrong in making fun of new student Maya's shabby clothes and refusing to play with her.

Not your typical WWII story. The story is about Sigrid and other Berlin women, the wives and mothers of the soldiers who have gone to war. Sigrid has secrets that can destroy many lives. A worthwile and enjoyable read. Good book club choice.

The Light Between Oceans by M.L. Stedman. This is a heart wrenching, thought provoking story about a couple who makes a decision that will alter their lives, and the life of another family, forever. The light between oceans A Lovely Book worth reading
The Light Between Oceans, by M.L. Stedman: - beautifully written novel about a light keeper on the coast of Western Australia nearly a century ago. I read it and my Mom did also. She presented it at her bookclub. For me, it was a compelling read.

This books is exactly what I was not expecting. Honestly, I didn't know what to expect. Lauren DeStefano does one fantastic job developing a storyline that kept me biting my nails, throwing punches into the air, and asking, "What if life really turned in to something like this?" Excellent debut novel.
