Started by getting a 4 x 8 plywood sheet, mixed an outdoor paint with sanded grout in a color that looks like chalkboard because we couldn't find a chalkboard paint that is made for the outdoors. By the end of the weekend the board was in use. Got the recipe for the paint/grout mixture online and to our surprise it works great. Just like the real thing.

This is a real favorite of mine in concept: We use fold doors all along the kitchen counter and they open to porch where we place either a counter or counter-level narrow table and add stools for guests (who normally get in way hanging around kitchen island). It is a level pass-through as well and effectively adds counter space to kitchen. (COOL!)
Maybe one day I will have a playroom for the kids and this will definitely be going on the wall... love it!
