      Armenians commemorate the Armenian Genocide on April 24 of each year. The night of April 24 of 1915, Ottoman authorities arrested & executed 1.5 million Armenians. Many were skinned alive. Fingernails & teeth were pulled. Extremities & heads were severed. Were burned alive. Were buried alive. Eyes were gouged. Hair & beards were cut off & used as brooms. Many were nailed to church doors.The Turkish government still denies this.

It took place during and after World War I and was implemented in two phases: the wholesale killing of the able-bodied male population through massacre and forced labor, and the deportation of women, children, the elderly and infirm on death marches to the Syrian Desert.
