Worth Reading, Zimmer Bradley, Mists Of Avalon, Marion Zimmer, Books Worth, King Arthur, Favorite Books
The Mists of Avalon (Avalon #1) by Marion Zimmer Bradley With more than 1 million copies in print and winner of the 1984 Locus Award for Best Fantasy Novel, "The Mists of Avalon" is by far Marion Zimmer Bradley's most successful novel. Putting a new twist on the Arthurian legends, this beloved book tells the epic story of the women behind the rise and fall of King Arthur.
The Mists of Avalon, Marion Zimmer Bradley. My favorite fantasy novel. Fantasy isn't my favorite genre, but this is a book worth reading and re-reading. A story set during the Arthurian era, much of it told from a woman's perspective, about what life was like back in those days when Christianity was gaining steam. A wonderful story and well written.
From the cover of "The Mist of Avalon" by Marion Zimmer Bradley. One of my al time favorite books. I love, love, love the Arthurian Legend, the era, prehistoric and historic medieval period. *swoon*
The Mists of Avalon by Marion Zimmer Bradley. The King Arthur story from the women's point of view.
The Mists of Avalon by Marion Zimmer Bradley. Here is the magical legend of King Arthur, vividly retold through the eyes and lives of the women who wielded power from behind the throne.
The Mists of Avalon (Avalon #1). Marion Zimmer Bradley. Ballantine Books,1984 (first published 1982). A retelling of Arthurian legends from the point of view of the women behind the throne. Morgaine (more commonly known as Morgan Le Fay) and Gwenhwyfar (a Welsh spelling of Guinevere) struggle for power, using Arthur as a way to score points and promote their respective worldviews.
The Mists of Avalon by Marion Zimmer Bradley. This different take on the Arthurian legend looks at the myth through the eyes of the women in King Arthur's life. Told from the point of view of Arthur's half-sister Morgaine, a priestess of a matriarchal pagan religion, who is fighting against imposition of Christianity on Britain. This book is imaginative and unique and definitely worth a read if you're interested in the Arthurian legend or historical fiction.
One of my All TIme Favorite Books! "There is no such thing as a true tale. Truth has many faces and the truth is like to the old road to Avalon; it depends on your own will, and your own thoughts, whither the road will take you." The Mists of Avalon, Marion Zimmer Bradley. Pinner writes: "The magical legend of King Arthur vividly retold through the eyes and lives of the women who wielded power from behind the throne - Guinevere, the Lady of the Lake, and Morgan Le Fay (Morgaine.)"
The Mists of Avalon is a 1983 novel by Marion Zimmer Bradley, in which she relates the Arthurian legends from the perspective of the female characters. The book follows the trajectory of Morgaine, a priestess fighting to save her matriarchal Celtic culture in a country where patriarchal Christianity threatens to destroy the pagan way of life. The epic is focused on the lives of Gwenhwyfar, Viviane, Morgause, Igraine and other women who are often marginalized in Arthurian retellings.
So true. Everyone brings something personal with them when they read. Also - if you read a book for the second time you're not reading it the same either because you've lived and experienced since you last read it - you're bring something new to the book.

I like how bigger words were printed on top of the words. The difference in size, color and font also bring emphasis onto the "No two persons ever read the same book" quote.

Gone with the Wind by Margaret Mitchell
Worth Reading, Wind, Margaret Mitchell, Margaretmitchell, Books Worth, Civil War, Movie, Favorite Books, Time Favorite
My all time favorite book and movie. In 1936 Margaret Mitchell publishes Gone with the Wind. Three years later it hits the silver screen, starring Clark Gable and Vivien Leigh.
Books, Gone With the Wind. If you're from the south, this is a must read. My favorite book and movie of all time!!
Gone With The Wind by Margaret Mitchell So much better than the movie, although they couldn't have casted it any better.
Gone with the Wind by Margaret Mitchell ~ Until recently, this was my all-time favorite book, but is now a close second. Not much can compare to the story of Scarlett and her life journey through the Civil War and Reconstruction. The characters, places, and times just come alive as you read!
Gone With the Wind (1936) by Margaret Mitchell - a best-selling novel and a Pulitzer winner about the Civil War that inspired a movie that inspired epic studio production
-Gone With the Wind by Margaret Mitchell. I'm going to be honest this is far from my favorite book. It's ridiculously long and Scarlett O'Hara is such an annoying character that you really love to hate, while simultaneously hoping that she comes to her freaking senses and realizes she loves Rhett. It's painful. But it is a classic that I think if you can handle it, go for it.
Gone with the Wind by Margaret Mitchell #MargaretMitchell
Gone with the Wind is a novel written by Margaret Mitchell, first published in 1936. The story is set in Clayton County, Georgia, and Atlanta during the American Civil War and Reconstruction era. It depicts the experiences of Scarlett O'Hara, the spoiled daughter of a well-to-do plantation owner, who must use every means at her disposal to come out of the poverty she finds herself in after Sherman's March to the Sea. A historical novel, the story is a Bildungsroman or coming-of-age story, with the title taken from a poem written by Ernest Dowson. Gone with the Wind was popular with American readers from the onset and was the top American fiction bestseller in the year it was published and in 1937. As of 2014, a Harris poll found it to be the second favorite book of American readers, just behind the Bible. More than 30 million copies have been printed worldwide. Written from the perspective of the slaveholder, Gone with the Wind is Southern plantation fiction. Its portrayal of slavery and African Americans is controversial, as well as its use of a racial epithet and ethnic slurs. However, the novel has become a reference point for subsequent writers about the South, both black and white. Scholars at American universities refer to it in their writings, interpret and study it. The novel has been absorbed into American popular culture. Margaret Mitchell was imaginative in the use of color symbolism, especially the colors red and green, which surround Scarlett O'Hara. Mitchell identified the primary theme as survival. She left the ending speculative for the reader, however. She was often asked what became of her lovers, Rhett and Scarlett. She did not know, and said, "For all I know, Rhett may have found someone else who was less difficult." Two sequels authorized by Mitchell's estate were published more than a half century later. A parody was also produced. Mitchell received the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction for the book in 1937. It was adapted into a 1939 American film. The book is often read or misread through the film. Gone with the Wind is the only novel by Mitchell published during her lifetime

a book worth reading to say the least... It's the most popular Salinger but the others are even better... Wish there were more
Even after I read this in high school, it continues to be one of my favorite books. The Catcher in the Rye by J.D Salinger
"The Catcher in the Rye": Read "Catcher in the Rye" because Salinger gets you. He knows what it's like to want to save a world that may not necessarily appreciate what you have to offer. It's worth reading if you feel an earnest need to know you're not alone on this planet.
The Catcher in the Rye by J. D. Salinger. Another book we had to read in high school. It was "behind the counter" at the library. I never could understand what all the fuss was about, actually.
Catcher in the Rye. J. D. Salinger. PS3537.A426 C3 1951 (Main Stacks). Reasons: Offensive language, unsuited to age group
The Catcher in the Rye by J. D. Salinger, http://www.amazon.com/dp/0316769177/ref=cm_sw_r_pi_dp_gTnXpb1WD6GE7
Enjoyed reading this in high school. Holden Caulfield is the perfect antihero; a tough talking teenage icon with a rebellious streak on a self identity journey. The Catcher In the Rye, by JD Salinger. This book is one of the earlier examples to feature much profanity within it's pages (for 1951 at least). Holden's mind is a delight to be inside, give it a read.
The Catcher in the Rye 1951 novel by J. D. Salinger ... My favorite book in the world.
"The Catcher in the Rye" JD Salinger --- favorite book :)
