    Maybe we've all got better things to do than judge each other for our clothing choices. (This makes me think of my sister. I have to remember to not judge ANY of her choices for herself--including her clothing.)

You own everything that happened to you. Tell your stories. If people wanted you to write warmly about them, they should've behaved better.
