Yakuza's Morning meditation. / Anton Kusters has spent two years following the Yakuza in Tokyo. Kusters managed to gain access to a Kabukicho-based branch of the Yakuza and has spent some time since then documenting their various activities in some startling images.
Kusters spent two years documenting the Yakuza, the most infamous of Japanese mafia, and was given a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to journey through the crime underworld controlled by the Yakuza. Yakuza is a personal visual account of the life inside an inaccessible subculture: “a traditional Japanese crime family that controls the streets of Kabukicho, in the heart of Tokyo, Japan.”
