the mamas and the papas. Popular and iconic American vocal group of the 1960s. Their signature sound was based on four-part male/female vocal harmonies arranged by John Phillips, the band's songwriter, who managed to "leave the folk music behind" and blend his writing with the new "beat" sound in an unprecedented mode.
The Mamas and The Papas "California Dreaming", "Monday, Monday", and "Spanish Harlem". Enough Said. RIP MAMA CASS ELLIOT :)
"The Mama's and Poppa's" -- Another famous group you kids never heard of I bet and what a sad thing you didn't. This is from the era when music had words you understood and sang yourselves and singers weren't cavorting about wiggling their hips.
