Listerine is an excellent mosquito and fly repellant apparently effectiveness. Cool Mint works the best for some reason.

Listerine (the amber color) works great to keep skeeters away from your yard. Spray it on the grass, in the bushes, around doors, on lawn chairs and patio. let it sit for a half hour and no skeeters. The smell doesn't last, but lack of skeeters does.

DIY: Bug Spray Ingredients: Listerine, Witch Hazel, Apple Cider Vinegar, Scented oil - such as Amber Vanilla, Lavender, cedar, or citronella, just to name a few.  Use 1/3 cup each and 10 drops of the oil into a spray bottle.  Shake it up.  test it out!

Frugal & Thrifty : Ant Killer Spray made with equal parts hydrogen peroxide, Scope mouthwash and Dawn dish soap. I did this using a different mouthwash and it worked great. I also had a fruity smelling Dawn and I was able to use this in my bedroom with no offensive fumes.
