The Starry Night | Vincent van Gogh, 1889 - One of the most famous, replicated and sought after images in modern culture. It depicts the view from his room of the northern night sky at the sanatorium in Saint Remy. The swirling clouds, bright crescent moon and luminescent stars keep the eyes wandering over the painting. This masterpiece has been kept at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City as part of their permanent collection since 1941.

Le Moulin de al Galette, 1886. Vincent van Gogh....what can I say? It's the Dutch in me! As my dad always said, "Everything good in the world is Dutch!" (please note eye rolls as I type this)

Vincent van Gogh was a famous Dutch painter who was born in Nuenen. People from all over the world knows his name and paintings like 'the Sunflowers' or 'the Potato-eaters'. A famous story about Van Gogh is about his ear: he cut it off.

Van Gogh 1889."Cypresses" was painted in late June 1889, shortly after Van Gogh began his yearlong voluntary stay as a patient in the asylum in Saint-Rémy. The subject, which he found "as beautiful of line and proportion as an Egyptian obelisk," both captivated and challenged the artist: "It is a splash of black in a sunny landscape, but it is one of the most interesting black notes, and the most difficult to hit off exactly that I can imagine."

Van GoghVincent van Gogh was born on March 30, 1853, in Groot-Zundert, Netherlands. He was a post-impressionist painter whose work, notable for its beauty, emotion and color, highly influenced 20th-century art. He struggled with mental illness, and remained poor and virtually unknown throughout his lifetime. He died at age 37, from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. His work was then known to only a handful of people and appreciated by fewer still.

Van Gogh. Never will I not pin Van Gogh.
