penny loafers The fad was to use a penny from the year you were born in the little slot. I wore mine until the soles gave out. Then my Uncle Benny Throm resoled them in his shoe shop and I wore them until I couldn't get my feet in them anymore!
Penny candy...there was a mom & pop store on every corner in our neighborhood. The candy was in a case behind glass, and as you told the clerk what you wanted, he would put it in a small brown paper bag. Fireballs, dots, Bazooka bubblegum and squirrels were a few of my favorites! Remember how hard it was trying to decide what to buy with your nickel?
LOL, these were my favorite toys to play with when I was little! I would create homes for them with the Fisher Price house and furniture along with those blocks that came in a blue square, orange cylinders, yellow have moon rectangles and red retangle blocks! I would love to have them today!!!
41 years...never knew they were real words...Grandma Foster used to drive us places and sing silly songs to us...when I saw this I remembered that I, too didn't know this song had actual real words! She sang it over and over to us and I thought she was just singing gibberish to a tune...but I laughed today when I found out it actually has words!
