my family's southern sweet tea (gallon): 6 regular or 2 family-sized lipton iced tea bags; 2 cups sugar; pinch of baking soda (optional). boil kettle of water and pour over tea bags into pitcher. allow to steep for about 5 minutes. pour in sugar and add pinch of baking soda, stirring until dissolved. top with cold water and allow to chill. always drink on the front porch.
