My parents, Hungarian Holocaust Survivors, Morton (Miksa) and Ilona (Engel) Fuchs, married 50 years, 1996. Morton, who survived 5 years of forced labor, was the sole survivor of his family of 3 siblings and their 6 children, all of whom remained in Auschwitz. Ilona survived Auschwitz with her 2 sisters but their parents Salamon and Flora (Szasz) Engel were sent directly to the gas chambers by Mengele.

This picture shows what is known as the "Big Four" the morning they signed the Treaty of Versailles. This treaty was signed in 1919, five days after the assassination of Franz Ferdinand and effectively ended World War One.  It forced Germany to pay many reparations and set many limits on their military. Unfortunately, the Germans were angry that their leaders had agreed to such a treaty and did not abide by it, becoming one of the causes for WWII.   Link…
